PDF Direct DIMM [Portable Document Format] is widely recognized as the standard for data transmission. Thanks to their compactness, PDF files allows transmition of data without overloading the network. But this great advantage vanishes when it comes to printing, when the printer driver turns the compact PDF file into a big PostScript print job, before sending it to the printer.
PDF Direct solves this problem, by enabling the printer to print native PDF files: the driver is no longer required and the file sent from the application through the network is extremely compact. By installing PDF Direct, it’s also possible to configure an e-mail address on the printer. Thanks to this application, the printer can receive e-mail messages and attachments [PDF, TIFF, MultiTIFF and JPG] and automatically print them. PDF Direct can be easily configured via web browser.
Installation
PDF Direct is stored on a Flash DIMM and can be installed on the printer just like a memory expansion.
Configuration
All the parameters can be set via web browser. A menu item for controlling PDF Direct is automatically added when PDF Direct is installed.
